Steps to Applying for Mature Students

Apply Early!

  • While most programs at Mohawk have enough room to meet enrolment demands, some programs are very popular and fill up quickly. To have the best chance of being accepted into your program, it is important to apply before the equal consideration date of February 1st.
  • Applicants who apply to a program before this date will be considered for admission equally. After this date, applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full.

Full Time Programs

  • Apply online at ontariocolleges.ca:
Applying to Mohawk is simple. ontariocolleges.ca processes all full-time applications to any of Ontario’s 24 community colleges. By using a simple mail-in or online form, you can apply to whichever programs you wish.
  • Or, apply by mail:
For mail in applications, forms and booklets are available at the Fennell Campus from Counselling and Disability Services (Room C117) or the Admissions Office (Room C112)
  • Please do not apply directly to Mohawk College

There is an $85.00 application fee payable to ontariocolleges.ca by credit card, certified cheque or money order. You may apply to as many as 5 college programs throughout Ontario, with a maximum of 3 programs at any one college.

Applying with Prerequisite “Courses in Progress”
In order to qualify for a Mohawk program, you may be required to take one or more preparatory courses that finish after February 1st. The following steps will help you to proceed with your application. For example, assume you are required to complete a Grade 12 English course or equivalent preparation that begins in the winter and ends in late spring.

Steps to Follow:

  1. Apply to ontariocolleges.ca for the Mohawk program of your choice - apply online at ontariocolleges.ca
  2. If you apply online, you will be sent an ontariocolleges.ca Application Number electronically. If you use the paper form, the ontariocolleges.ca Application Number is printed in large numbers on the upper right side of the form. Please record and do not lose this number.
  3. Register for the preparatory course(s) you need at a college or adult education center. As part of this process, you will receive a receipt or registration form.
  4. Bring a photocopy of the registration form AND your ontariocolleges.ca application number to the Admissions Office, Room C112 at Mohawk ‘s Fennell Campus, or fax to 905-575-2392.
  5. We will record your preparatory course registration and continue to consider your application. If you are completing your preparatory course(s) at Mohawk, you are not required to submit a registration form for your preparatory course.
  6. Have your instructor forward a mid-term grade on official school letterhead to the Admissions Office by fax 905-575-2392, or by mail, or in person to Room C112 at Fennell campus. It is your responsibility to ensure that the instructor provides this information.
  7. Your mid-term grade can be used as a “place holder” and shows that you are completing the prerequisite course(s).
  8. Based on your mid-term grade(s) (if competitive) you may be given a conditional offer of admission.
  9. When you successfully complete the preparatory course(s), please ensure that the school forwards a copy of your final grade or a copy of your transcript to the Admissions Office at Mohawk College. If you are completing your preparatory course(s) at Mohawk, you are not required to submit a final grade.
  10. As long as the prerequisite course is successfully completed, the condition will be removed from your offer of admission.*

* For Nursing BScN, please refer to the college calendar or website or contact the Admissions Office for detailed information.
