Highlights

  • Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills required to become a successful practitioner of Human Resources Management in the areas of recruitment, training, performance management, compensation, health and safety and labour relations
  • A seven week unpaid placement in a Human Resources Department supplements the theory and application provided in the classroom
  • Students will interact with and receive guidance from individuals in the human resources industry through guest speakers, mentoring initiatives and conducting information interviews
  • Graduates of the program fulfill the academic requirements of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario (HRPAO) and are eligible to write the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) CHRP- Certified Human Resources Professional (See HRPA website http://www.hrpa.ca for details)
  • The Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPAO) grants the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRPTM) designation. Effective January 01, 2011, in addition to completing the academic requirements and successfully passing both national examinations, individuals will require a degree in order to obtain the Certified Human Resources Professional designation. In order to be exempt from the degree requirement, individuals must successfully meet all academic requirements and pass the National Knowledge Exam (NKETM) before December 31, 2010. Please contact HRPA's Professional Standards Department at 416-923-2324 for more information about examination requirements, eligibility and the degree requirement.

Program Eligibility:

  • University degree or three-year college diploma

Applicant Selection:

  • Eligible applicants will be selected on the basis of the following selection criteria:
    • previous academic achievement
    • demonstrated experience
  • Postsecondary transcripts, indicating courses completed to date, must be submitted at the time of application
  • Applicants will be requested to submit a detailed resumé, and covering letter to illustrate their suitability for a career in Human Resources Management

* Applicant must have a university degree to qualify to write the NKE (National Knowledge Exam)
