RPN - Operating Room Nursing

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program, designed in accordance with Standards of Practice of Operating Room Nurses of Canada, is intended to prepare Registered Practical Nurses to function effectively in the operating room. The need for specialized perioperative nursing education reflects the increasing complexity of operating room nursing knowledge, judgement and skills.
This program is offered through traditional classroom delivery or through Distance Education.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. Application form must be completed and approved by the Program Manager prior to registration.  Application forms are available from Alma Janke at 905-540-4247 ext. 26258.
2. Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a registered nurse.
3. Permission from Program Manager and medical clearance are required to register in clinical experience.

PROGRAM OF STUDIES

To receive the Certificate, you must successfully complete the following six courses. Introduction to Operating Room Nursing (NRSG10030) is a prerequisite to all other courses.
