The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians (OACETT) conditionally recognizes this program as meeting all the requirements for certification in the Certified Technician (CTech) category.
Program Objectives
Unique in Ontario, this program will provide courses specifically designed for the metal casting industry. Under the support of the Modern Foundry Technologies Institute (a partnership of the Canadian Foundry Association and Mohawk College), a new state-of-the-art facility was specifically designed and installed for the laboratory portion of the program at Fennell Campus.
Career Opportunities
Virtually nothing moves, turns, rolls or flies without the benefit of cast metal products (products that are shaped into a form). There are castings in cars, trucks, aircraft, office buildings, factories, schools and homes. Globalization and increased competition has resulted in greater demand for high quality, low cost metal products. Graduates will be able to look forward to excellent employment opportunities in areas such as process engineering, casting design, mould design, quality assurance and production.
