Hydronic System Design Course

In conjunction with the Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC), Mohawk College offers the Hydronic System Design Course. This program was developed within The Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) with input from technical institutions, contractors, wholesalers, manufacturers and industry professionals.

Successful completion of this course allows graduates to become a Registered Hydronic Designer and also counts towards the credentials required for the CHC Certification Program for Hydronic Designers.

This full week course provides a thorough understanding of the design requirements for residential home heating systems. Upon successful completion of training the student will be able to:

  • Calculate heat loss
  • Design a radiant panel
  • Size and select circulation pumps
  • Size and select expansion tanks
  • Size and select boilers
  • Describe system components
  • Describe the procedure for system commissioning
  • Explain the guidelines for design and installation of hot water systems

Prerequisite:
Students entering this program should be working with residential hot water heating systems or related fields.
