In conjunction with the Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC), Mohawk College offers the Hydronic System Design Course. This program was developed within The Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) with input from technical institutions, contractors, wholesalers, manufacturers and industry professionals.
Successful completion of this course allows graduates to become a Registered Hydronic Designer and also counts towards the credentials required for the CHC Certification Program for Hydronic Designers.
This full week course provides a thorough understanding of the design requirements for residential home heating systems. Upon successful completion of training the student will be able to:
- Calculate heat loss
- Design a radiant panel
- Size and select circulation pumps
- Size and select expansion tanks
- Size and select boilers
- Describe system components
- Describe the procedure for system commissioning
- Explain the guidelines for design and installation of hot water systems
Prerequisite:
Students entering this program should be working with residential hot water heating systems or related fields.
