- Learn drawing with an emphasis on fine art skills and norms for cartooning including life drawing, inking and penciling at basic and advanced levels
- Understand narrative and scriptwriting with the traditional elements of plot and character development and enhanced understanding of dialogue as the primary vehicle of plot in graphic novels and cartooning
- Use technology in the creative process, focusing on the use of digital colorization using Photoshop as it applies to sequential art

- University degree in Communications, Contemporary Studies, Fine Art, English or Film Studies or equivalent or
- College diploma in Graphic Arts, Business, General Arts, or Media or equivalent; or a
- Combination of education and work experience deemed equivalent by the college
- A resumé, portfolio, transcripts and letter of application may be required
