- Theory content and "in-school" portion can be taken in the evenings (3hrs/2 nights weekly) or day release (6 hrs/day)
- Apprentices will study and gain meaningful experiences in early childhood programs, learning to foster the development of the whole child and recognize individual needs
- Experiences will include opportunities to observe children at our on-site Family Resource Program or other agency partners, field placements with a wide variety of age groups at the apprentice's place of employment, as well as other organizations
- The ECE Apprenticeship Certificate from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is awarded upon successful completion of 4,000 - 6,000 "on-the-job" hours and "in-school" ECE subjects/courses
- In addition to the ECE Apprenticeship Certificate, the apprentice may work towards an ECE Diploma upon successful completion of a College English and a specified number of General Education courses
- Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program is also offered for senior secondary students to attend Mohawk College Early Childhood Educator Apprenticeship Training Program and work with employers in a co-op education work placement as registered apprentices
