Badminton

Mohawk's badminton team had some good results to report from its latest invitational tournament at Centennial College in Scarborough January 12-13.

Chris Hong tied for third place in men's singles and teamed with Sherri Arbour to capture the mixed doubles "B" championship. Hong and Jas Mogford also triumphed over a men's doubles team including one of the top players in David Trinh. Coach Matt Schnarr said Mogford had great results all weekend and will only get better. He'll be ready to give a good run at the Regional Championships which will be staged at Mohawk College February 1-2.

Laura Arbour was the "B" Champion in women's singles, turning in a strong performance all weekend long against the province's best players.

Crystal Oakes and Kristina Hall tied for third in the women's doubles. Coach Schnarr said despite Oakes having to battle injuries, she and Hall continue to compete at a high level and are promising to be a force at the Regional and Provincial championships.
