Mohawk applauds province’s investment in campus renewal

HAMILTON – Mohawk College is applauding the Ontario government’s announcement today of an additional $3.7 million for infrastructure renewal for the College’s Hamilton and Brantford campuses.

“Mohawk College is appreciative of the Ontario government’s strategic investment in facility renewal at our four campuses throughout Hamilton and Brantford,” says President MaryLynn West-Moynes. “The Province’s investment of $3.7 million will allow us to continue modernizing our classrooms and labs to ensure our students graduate to success with the skills and experience to get the job done.” Mohawk will also be making further investments in campus safety for students and maintaining its aging buildings. The Fennell Campus and Mohawk Brantford officially opened in 1970.

“It is gratifying that the Hon. John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, along with our local representatives the Hon. Ted McMeekin, Minister of Government and Consumer Services and Hamilton Mountain MPP Sophia Aggelonitis understand clearly that through these types of strategic investments, Ontario will build and strong and globally competitive economy through our graduates,” says West-Moynes.

The Ontario government is investing $200 million in campus renewal projects at all of Ontario’s publicly-funded colleges and universities, with Mohawk receiving $3,731,800.

"Our government's investment will help local communities across Ontario immediately by stimulating construction and creating jobs," said the Hon. John Milloy. "We are making an important investment in the knowledge-based economy of tomorrow by investing in today's students."
