“Our father was a tireless worker who instilled a love of learning in his family,” says Wayne Marshall, co-owner of Marshall Truck and Trailer Repair Ltd in Stoney Creek. “In establishing the Gerald Marshall Fund at Mohawk, we are creating opportunities for students to follow in our father’s footsteps and achieve their own dreams of building successful careers and companies.” The Gerald Marshall Fund will enhance Mohawk’s Truck and Coach apprenticeship program and train graduates to work throughout the trucking and transportation industry as truck and coach technicians and mechanics.
The Challenge
On November 15 th 2006 the Marshall family and Marshall Truck and Trailer Repair announced their $1.2 million gift for this facility with their personal objective of raising funds to match it. Presently, the Marshall family is working with the community to meet this challenge.
To date their efforts are proving to be worthwhile and the community has embraced the challenge through donations and attending The Gerald Marshall Centre Benefit.
