| Media Advisory, April 25, 2007 Marshall family continues building on father’s legacy: $47,000 raised at weekend celebration
HAMILTON – Family, friends and business acquaintances of the late
Gerald Marshall got together over the weekend and raised more thana
$40,000 in support of training the next generation of skilled
tradespeople. All money from the first annual Gerald
Marshall Event raised will be invested in the $3.2 million Gerald
Marshall Truck and Coach Facility at the Mohawk STARRT Institute. To
date, more than $2.6 million has been committed to the facility, which
trains graduates to work as truck and coach technicians, mechanics and
mechanical repairers, automotive mechanical installers and servicers. "My entire family is extremely happy with the response to the event," says Cindy Butler. "My father would have been so proud."
"On behalf of Mohawk, I want to thank the Marshall family for
continuing to be such incredible supporters and champions of skilled
trades training," said President MaryLynn West-Moynes. "Gerald Marshall
would have been very proud of what his family accomplished and
contributed in his memory." Organized by the
Marshall family, more than 400 people took part in the fundraiser at
Piazza Banquet Hall. Last November, the Marshall family and Marshall
Truck and Trailer Repair Ltd. in Stoney Creek made the largest single
donation in Mohawk's history with a $1.2 million memorial donation. View the 2007 Event Photo Gallery |
