Developed and authorized by the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada, the “Maintenance Management Professional Certificate Program” consists of eight modules. The program is designed for individuals aspiring to management or specialist positions in the maintenance and reliability field, those already in maintenance management and looking for formal training, as well as for individuals seeking full maintenance designation in MMP or those such as trades people seeking only focused training in specific areas.
This certificate program is comprised of eight modules. While not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that all the modules be taken and completed in the order in which they are listed below:
Maintenance Management Skills and Techniques MMP01 This module introduces basic concepts and the latest developments in cost effective maintenance and physical asset management.

Production and Operations Management for the Maintenance Manager MMP02 Detailed studies of planning and scheduling methods, production management and quality control methods, and quality control in a maintenance environment are discussed in this course. Topics include the critical path method, Gantt charts, benchmarking and decision-making strategies. (30 hours)

Human Resources Management for the Maintenance Manager MMP03 This module looks at how human resources practices relate to the maintenance environment. Topics covered include legal implications, labour issues, team building and managing group change. (30 hours)

Accounting and Finance for the Maintenance Manager MMP04 You will gain a basic understanding of accounting and finance as it pertains to the maintenance professional. Accounting and financial terminology, basic accounting principles, cost accounting, budgeting, inventory management, forecasting, estimating return on investment, projecting maintenance costs and cost benefit analysis will be discussed in this course. (30 hours)

Planned Maintenance Management MMP05 This module provides a study of various maintenance management philosophies and techniques used to optimize the maintenance function. (30 hours)

Predictive Maintenance Technologies MMP06 You will learn how predictive maintenance dovetails into the maintenance effect. Topics discussed will include various types of predictive maintenance and condition-based maintenance processes, fault code analysis, wear particles analysis, vibration analysis, laser alignment systems, NDT and ultrasonic detection, and infrared thermography. (30 hours)

Computerized Maintenance Management MMP07 This module is a study in choosing and implementing a suitable computer maintenance management system (CMMS). You will understand the benefits and essentials of CMMS, and will develop expertise in the selection, implementation and support of a CMMS package. (30 hours)

Capstone Course MMP08 Students will review the major teaching points from the previous MMP modules to help enable them to apply the principles, latest concepts and techniques to real maintenance problems found in the students’ work. The facilitator will guide the review discussions. Working in small groups or teams, students will each select a maintenance problem found in their place of work. Upon approval from the facilitator, the team will work together to provide a solution to the identified problem. (30 hours)
