Mohawk's Cull The Best In The Country!

Jasmin Cull - Award Winner 08
Not since Todd Boyes in 1998 has an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's volleyball player been honoured with Canadian College Men's Volleyball top honour, but Mohawk's Jasmin Cull again wrote his name into the record books, this time without stepping on the court, as he was named the 2007-08 CCAA Men's Volleyball National Player of the Year.

The fourth year General Arts and Science, Cull had an outstanding year, earning his second consecutive OCAA Player of the Year honour, as well as his second consecutive CCAA All-Canadian nomination. On the court, Cull was a solid defensive player, finishing second on his team in digs and blocks while leading his squad in kills. But it was from behind the end lines where the lanky 6'4 player made his presence felt the most, posting an impressive 65 service aces on the season, destroying the previous record of 38. As impressive as his serve may be, Cull made sure teams were aware he was not a one dimensional player, posting 28 kills in the OCAA Provincial Championship game against the defending Provincial Champions and CCAA National Bronze medalist Algonquin Thunder.

Jasmin Cull Receives Award 08

With numerous records also to his credit this season, the Ancaster, native will hope to convert his collection of accolades into a national medal. Ontario teams have always finished well when hosting the National Championship, never missing a podium finish in the five previous occasions.
