Mountaineer Hoopster Iavarone Honoured

Lisamarie Iavarone - Female Athlete of the Week 08
Lisamarie Iavarone of Mohawk has been named co-winner of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Female Athlete of the Week Award.

Iavarone was the West Region Most Valuable Player as she played a key role in her team's 68-66 win over the East squad in the OCAA's 21st All-Star Basketball games at Durham College in Oshawa on Saturday. The graduate of Hamilton's St. Thomas More shares the weekly honour with East team MVP Rachael Niven of St. Lawrence College of Kingston.

The East captured the men's game 98-94 in overtime.

Close to 1,500 fans took in the action at Durham.
