Family hosting fundraiser to build a new training centre in their father's name
HAMILTON -- The family who has made the single largest donation in Mohawk College's 41-year history is looking to add to their total and build on their father's legacy.

The Marshall family is hosting the 2nd annual Gerald Marshall Centre Benefit. The family-organized event is a tribute to their father who was also the founder and owner of G. Marshall Transport Ltd. in East Hamilton for 34 years. To date, the family and Marshall Truck and Trailer Repair Ltd. in Stoney Creek have personally contributed and raised more than $1.4 million.
The Marshall family is raising money to help build a new Gerald Marshall Truck and Coach Centre in Stoney Creek. Located at the Mohawk Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship Research, Resources and Training (STARRT) Institute and scheduled to open in the Fall of 2009, the Gerald Marshall Truck and Coach Centre will create more apprenticeship opportunities for students in Mohawk's in-demand Truck and Coach Technician and Truck Trailer Service Technician programs.
The 2nd annual Gerald Marshall Centre Benefit will be held Saturday, April 26 at Piazza Banquet Hall at 230 Anchor Rd. in Hamilton. Tickets are $25 per person. For more information, go to
