The Applied Research and Innovation Department of Mohawk, in collaboration with industry, education and non-profit organizations, currently is investing in research designed to help groups and teams improve their effectiveness using Groupware Support Systems [GSS] software.
Specialized GSS software is housed in Mohawk's Management Decision Centre located on the main floor of the iT Centre, a cutting edge meeting facility designed to allow all participants to convey candid ideas in an environment that leverages software to enhance the power and potential of the human mind. The goal of GSS is to improve productivity, decrease costs and increase innovation at an accelerated pace.
Today's organizations face many challenges. To tackle these challenges, organizations are reengineering structures, processes and tools that enhance their ability to make effective decisions. More than two decades of lab and field research indicates Groupware Support Systems [GSS] enhances the effectiveness of group decisions.
Mohawk is conducting research to identify and support the sustainability of GSS as an innovation in industry, education and non-profit organizations. This research will allow organizations to engage this leading edge technology on practical and pragmatic challenges and issues.
The research conducted explores the role of the facilitator in developing, designing and delivering GSS on behalf of their company. As a contributing member of this research, participants in collaborative electronic decision-making are invited to partner with Mohawk College, identifying solutions that directly benefit their organizations. The action research produce results in real work situations.
Participants may utilize our fully equipped facility at the Fennell Campus, or alternatively arrange for our portable lab to be set-up onsite at your location. We will ensure that your facilitator is fully trained and self-sufficient in the use of GSS.
