Minister of Citizenship and Immigration tours Mohawk's healthcare bridging programs
Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Michael Chan was at Mohawk Friday to meet with skilled and experienced newcomers to Canada who are training to continue their careers in health care.
The Minister met with students and recent graduates from Mohawk's Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Nurses (BIEN) and the College's Bridging Program for Medical Laboratory Technology offered by the College's School of Continuing Education.
The BIEN Ontario College Certificate Program (

The Bridging Program for Medical Laboratory Technology (

Both programs have graduate employment rates of more than 90 per cent.
Mohawk's School of Continuing Education also offers a Bridging Engineering Program (

Nearly 70 per cent of newcomers to Ontario have some post-secondary education and immigration will soon account for all of the province's future labour market growth. In May, Minister Chan announced $408,047 in new funding for Mohawk's BIEN Program.
