Social Service Worker Program

Social Service Work is a profession regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Social Service Workers subscribe to core values of helping others. These values include the right to choose, the right to equality, justice and access to service. Social Service Workers respond to the needs of individuals, families, groups and communities.
Mohawk College’s Social Service Worker Program prepares students to develop the skills necessary to practice social service work in the province of Ontario. Students gain core helping skills such as interviewing, assessing the needs of others, working with groups and assisting communities to change. Students will also develop an understanding and ability to work within ethical frameworks and understand the importance of respecting the uniqueness and dignity of all people.
